Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (440g)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast (7g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5g)
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed (240ml)
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted (75g)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup jam or fruit preserves (160g)
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened (120g)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (90g)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together warmed milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a sticky dough.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out risen dough into a large circle and cut into triangles.
  8. Place desired filling at the wider end of each triangle.
  9. Roll up the triangle from the wide end to the tip to form a crescent shape.
  10. Place crescents on prepared baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
