Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour and salt together.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- In a frying pan over medium heat, sauté onions, bell pepper, and garlic until soft.
- Add ground beef; cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Once cooked, remove from heat; stir in shredded cheese until melted.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each into a flat circle.
- Place a generous amount of filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and seal the edges tightly.
- Place each filled bun onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
