Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk flour and salt together.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  6. In a frying pan over medium heat, sauté onions, bell pepper, and garlic until soft.
  7. Add ground beef; cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
  8. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  9. Once cooked, remove from heat; stir in shredded cheese until melted.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  11. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each into a flat circle.
  12. Place a generous amount of filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and seal the edges tightly.
  13. Place each filled bun onto the prepared baking sheet.
  14. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  15. Let cool slightly before serving.
