Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for flavor)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions or chives
Instructions:
- Boil diced potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to desired smoothness.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced onions until translucent. Add minced garlic, cook for another minute. Stir in ground beef, browning until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
- Mix in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased baking dish, spread the meat mixture evenly. Layer the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing them out. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over potatoes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Remove from oven, drizzle with sour cream, and sprinkle green onions on top. Let cool slightly before serving.
