Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 lb (450g) ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-seasoned)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup ketchup for glaze
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar for glaze
- Optional: Dash of hot sauce for a kick
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, finely chopped onion and minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference.
- Using your hands or a spatula, mix all the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix as it can lead to a dense meatloaf.
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it on a lined baking sheet about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide.
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and hot sauce if using. Spread half of this glaze over the top of your shaped meatloaf.
- Place in preheated oven and bake for approximately 50 minutes. After that time has elapsed; apply remaining glaze on top if desired.
- Return meatloaf back into the oven for another 10 minutes, until internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (70°C) measured with an instant-read thermometer.
- nce done remove from oven let rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This will help retain juices when cut!
