Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Royal Gala)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup raisins or cranberries (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or clotted cream for serving (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Core each apple, creating a well but leaving the base intact, and place them in a baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon, then drizzle in melted butter and stir until mixed. Add raisins or cranberries if using.
  4. Spoon the filling into the hollowed-out centers of each apple, packing gently.
  5. Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream or clotted cream and a sprinkle of chopped nuts.
