Ingredients:

  • oz (180 ml) Boiling Water (off the rolling boil)
  • oz (60 ml) Bourbon or Scotch Whisky
  • oz (22 ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
  • to 1.5 Tbsp Honey (adjust to taste)
  • Garnish: 1 Lemon Wheel/Twist and 3 Whole Cloves

Instructions:

  1. Place the measured honey into the bottom of your serving mug.
  2. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice and add it directly over the honey in the mug.
  3. Pour about 1 ounce (30ml) of nearly boiling water into the mug. Stir vigorously until the honey is completely dissolved into the lemon water mixture.
  4. Measure and pour the whisky (or bourbon) into the mug.
  5. Fill the remainder of the mug with the hot water, leaving about half an inch headspace at the rim. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  6. If using, skewer the lemon wheel with the three whole cloves and rest it on the rim of the mug, or express the oils from a lemon twist over the surface before dropping it in. Serve immediately while steaming hot.
