Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Cut the unsalted butter into uniform pieces for even melting.
  2. Place the butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Once melted, gently swirl the pan to distribute the heat evenly.
  4. Continue to cook, keeping an eye on the bubbling, until the butter foams.
  5. As it cooks, look for the milk solids to sink and start turning golden brown.
  6. Once the butter emits a rich, nutty smell and turns brown (about 5-10 minutes total), remove it from heat.
  7. Pour the brown butter through a fine mesh strainer into a heat-resistant bowl or measuring cup to remove the solids if desired.
