Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14-ounce) can of crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 12 ounces capellini
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Gather and measure all ingredients. Chop the basil and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add capellini and cook for 2-4 minutes. Reserve some pasta water, then drain.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add cooked capellini to the sauce, tossing gently. Adjust with reserved pasta water if needed.
  5. Stir in chopped basil, season as needed, and serve hot garnished with basil and Parmesan cheese.
