Ingredients:
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3 cups (360g) confectioners' sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) sea salt
Instructions:
- Place the softened cream cheese and butter in your mixing bowl. Beat on medium-high speed for 3 minutes until the mixture transforms from yellow-white to a pale, almost white color and feels light and aerated.
- Reduce the mixer speed to low to avoid a sugar cloud. Gradually add the sifted confectioners' sugar one cup at a time. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat for another 2 minutes until the frosting looks smooth and glossy with no visible white clumps.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt. Mix on low for 30 seconds just until combined. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl and give it one final pulse until the frosting holds a stiff peak when the beaters are lifted.
