Ingredients:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced Ribeye or Top Round steak
  • 1 large Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (for sautéing)
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Black Pepper to taste
  • 12 count Slider Rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian or Potato Rolls)
  • 8 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 4 slices Cheez Whiz or American Cheese (optional)
  • 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted (for topping)
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Dried Italian Herb Mix
  • 1 tsp Poppy Seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Slice the entire package of slider rolls horizontally through the middle, keeping the tops and bottoms attached like a single slab. Set aside.
  2. Melt 2 Tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and peppers. Sauté until softened and beginning to caramelize (about 8–10 minutes). Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Increase heat slightly. Add the thinly sliced steak to the hot pan in batches. Cook quickly (about 2–3 minutes per batch), chopping it up coarsely with a spatula as it browns. Drain off excess moisture/fat if necessary.
  4. Return the cooked onions and peppers to the pan with the steak. Mix well and adjust seasoning if needed. This is your main filling.
  5. Place the bottom half of the rolls on a baking sheet. Layer half of the Provolone cheese directly onto the bottom bread. Evenly distribute the steak and vegetable filling over the cheese. Top the filling with the remaining Provolone and the optional American/Whiz slices. Place the top half of the rolls on.
  6. Prepare the topping by whisking together the 4 Tbsp melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian herbs in a small bowl.
  7. Using a pastry brush, generously slather the herb butter mixture evenly over the entire top surface of the rolls. Sprinkle with poppy seeds, if using.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15–20 minutes, or until the edges of the bread are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is thoroughly melted.
  9. Carefully slice the assembled block into individual Philly Cheesesteak sliders. Serve immediately.
