Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened (226g)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (150g)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (281g)
- ¼ teaspoon salt (1.5g)
- Sprinkles, sanding sugar, colored sugar, melted chocolate (Optional)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Fit the cookie press with your desired disc shape.
- Fill the cookie press with chilled dough.
- Press cookies directly onto ungreased baking sheets, following the manufacturer's instructions for your cookie press. Leave about 1 inch of space between cookies.
- Decorate with sprinkles or sanding sugar before baking (Optional).
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle cooled cookies with melted chocolate and add sprinkles (Optional).
