Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks or 227g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2-4 tablespoons (30-60 ml) milk or heavy cream
- 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until incorporated. Alternate with adding milk or cream.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Gradually add more milk or cream until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. It should be smooth, creamy, and easily spreadable.
- Beat on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes to ensure the frosting is light and airy.
- If desired, cover and chill for 10 minutes for a slightly firmer consistency before frosting.
