Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk (480 ml)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until just steaming but not boiling.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Gradually whisk hot milk into the egg mixture until thoroughly combined.
  6. Carefully pour the custard mixture into prepared ramekins.
  7. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven, allow to cool for 10 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
