Ingredients:

  • fl oz Hot Water (just off the boil)
  • fl oz Bourbon Whiskey (mid-to-high-proof)
  • fl oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Tablespoon Dark Honey (e.g., wildflower)
  • Cinnamon Stick (for stirring)
  • thin Lemon Wheel or Twist (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Bring the water to a rolling boil using a kettle or small saucepan.
  2. In the serving mug, combine the honey and fresh lemon juice.
  3. Pour about 1 ounce (30 ml) of the hot water over the honey and lemon mixture. Stir vigorously until the honey is completely dissolved, creating a syrup base.
  4. Pour in the measured bourbon whiskey.
  5. Fill the remainder of the mug with the hot water, leaving about a half-inch space at the top. Stir gently to incorporate all ingredients.
  6. Insert the cinnamon stick and float a thin lemon wheel or peel on top. Serve immediately while piping hot.
