- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in egg and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
- Cut into desired shapes and place on baking sheets lined with parchment.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are just golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- In a mixing bowl, beat melted butter with powdered sugar and milk, adding vanilla until smooth.
- Adjust consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
- Once cookies are completely cool, frost with icing and add sprinkles if desired.
