Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups (340 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Colored sprinkles or granulated sugar (for decoration)
- Icing (for piping, optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick, then cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, decorate as desired with icing or sprinkles.
