Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120 g) cornmeal
- 4 cups (950 ml) water or chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon (6 g) salt
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
- Maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar, to taste
- Crumbled bacon or sausage
- Grated cheese
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, bring water or broth to a boil.
- Add the salt to the boiling liquid.
- Gradually whisk in the cornmeal to avoid clumps.
- Reduce heat to low, continuously stirring with a wooden spoon until mixture thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
- Once thickened and creamy, remove from heat and stir in butter, if desired.
- Serve hot, topped with optional ingredients of your choice.
