Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced ¼-inch thick (approximately 900g)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (57g), cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup water (60ml)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Peel, core (if using an apple corer), and slice the apples into roughly ¼-inch thick slices.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add both the granulated and brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the melted butter. Stir to combine.
- Add the sliced apples to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Pour in the water and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
