Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces (170g) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, high quality (Ghirardelli or similar)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Heavy Cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup (60g) Powdered Sugar, sifted to remove lumps
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch of Sea Salt

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream and butter over medium-low heat until butter is melted and cream is simmering gently. Do not boil.
  2. Place chocolate chips in the heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate. Let sit for 1 minute to soften the chocolate.
  3. Gently whisk the chocolate and cream mixture until completely smooth and glossy. Be patient, it might take a minute or two.
  4. Whisk in the sifted powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until fully incorporated and the glaze is silky smooth.
  5. Dip each donut into the warm glaze, letting any excess drip off. Place glazed donuts on a wire rack to set. The result is perfect chocolate donut icing.
