Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, full-fat, softened
  • 1/2 cup (113g or 1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ounces (85g) bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Gently melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, or in a double boiler. Let it cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually add the melted and slightly cooled chocolate to the cream cheese mixture, beating until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt until combined.
  6. For a firmer chocolate cream cheese frosting, cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using.
