Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, full-fat, softened
- 1/2 cup (113g or 1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 ounces (85g) bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Gently melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, or in a double boiler. Let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the melted and slightly cooled chocolate to the cream cheese mixture, beating until well combined.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and salt until combined.
- For a firmer chocolate cream cheese frosting, cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using.
