Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks/226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2-4 tablespoons (30-60ml) milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter using a mixer until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed.
- Add 2 tablespoons of milk (or cream) and the vanilla extract. Mix on low speed until just combined.
- If the icing is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar, one-quarter cup at a time.
- Beat the icing on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
