Instructions:

  1. Grind tea leaves to a fine powder, if necessary.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and ground Earl Grey tea.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Roll out the dough or scoop into balls and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Mix powdered sugar, milk (or water), and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over cooled cookies if using glaze.
  11. Allow cookies to cool completely before serving.
