Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
  • 1/2 cup Coca-Cola
  • 1/2 cup French dressing
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Coca-Cola for glaze
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 6 brioche buns
  • 6 slices sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer 1/2 cup cola, brown sugar, and smoked paprika until reduced by half into a thick syrup (about 8–10 minutes). Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup cola, French dressing, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Gently fold the ground beef and Panko breadcrumbs into the liquid mixture. Do not overwork the meat to ensure tenderness.
  4. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into 1-inch thick patties. Press a small dimple into the center of each patty.
  5. Refrigerate the patties for at least 15 minutes to allow the fats to solidify.
  6. Preheat the grill to medium-high (400°F). Grill patties for 4–5 minutes on the first side.
  7. Flip the burgers and brush the tops generously with the prepared cola glaze. Cook for another 4–5 minutes.
  8. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking. Remove when internal temperature reaches 160°F and rest for 3 minutes before serving on buns.
