Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
- 1/2 cup Coca-Cola
- 1/2 cup French dressing
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup Coca-Cola for glaze
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 6 brioche buns
- 6 slices sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer 1/2 cup cola, brown sugar, and smoked paprika until reduced by half into a thick syrup (about 8–10 minutes). Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup cola, French dressing, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Gently fold the ground beef and Panko breadcrumbs into the liquid mixture. Do not overwork the meat to ensure tenderness.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into 1-inch thick patties. Press a small dimple into the center of each patty.
- Refrigerate the patties for at least 15 minutes to allow the fats to solidify.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high (400°F). Grill patties for 4–5 minutes on the first side.
- Flip the burgers and brush the tops generously with the prepared cola glaze. Cook for another 4–5 minutes.
- Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking. Remove when internal temperature reaches 160°F and rest for 3 minutes before serving on buns.
