Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) Premium Strawberry Pie Filling
  • 1 cup Fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) White or Yellow Cake Mix
  • 0.75 cup Salted butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup Sliced almonds

Instructions:

  1. Spread both cans of strawberry pie filling into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 dish. Gently fold in the fresh strawberries, vanilla, and lemon juice. Ensure the fruit is in an even, level layer to prevent hot spots.
  2. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the strawberry base. Do not pack the mix down; keep it light and aerated. Use the back of a spoon to gently push the mix into the corners so no fruit is peeking through.
  3. Slowly pour the melted butter over the entire surface of the cake mix, aiming for 90% coverage. Top with sliced almonds if desired. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
