Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream (preferably chilled)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Chill your mixing bowl and beaters/whisk in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Pour the chilled heavy cream into the bowl. Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract if using.
  3. Using an electric mixer or whisk, start whipping the cream on medium speed.
  4. Whisk until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes. Soft peaks should gently hold their shape and slightly bend when lifted.
  5. Increase speed and whip until stiff peaks form, about 1-2 minutes more. Be careful not to over-whip, as it can turn into butter.
  6. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving.
