Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread (450g)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (56g)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound ground beef (450g)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (240ml)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on the cut sides of the bread. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Add chopped onion and red bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Mix in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Spoon the Sloppy Joe filling generously onto the toasted garlic bread halves. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with additional parsley.
