Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of French bread (450g)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (56g)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 pound ground beef (450g)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce (240ml)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on the cut sides of the bread. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Add chopped onion and red bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Mix in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe filling generously onto the toasted garlic bread halves. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with additional parsley.
