Ingredients:

  • 1 (30 oz) bag frozen hash browns (850 g)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (30 g), melted
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (450 g), cooked and crumbled
  • 8 large eggs (about 400 g)
  • 1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (2 g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (4 g)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (100 g)
  • ½ cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease the baking dish with cooking spray or melted butter.
  3. In the mixing bowl, toss the frozen hash browns with melted butter until evenly coated.
  4. Press the hash brown mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
  5. Bake the hash brown crust for 20 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. While the crust is baking, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a separate bowl.
  7. Once the crust is done, remove from the oven and layer the crumbled sausage over the hash browns.
  8. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage layer.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and green onions on top.
  10. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
