Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for greasing)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup (180ml) milk
  • 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the muffin tin or line with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, folding gently with a spatula until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Fold in ¾ cup of the chocolate chips, reserving the remaining for topping.
  6. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, fill muffin cups about 2/3 full with batter.
  7. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips over the top of the batter.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
