Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large loaf crusty Italian or French bread (about 12-15 inches)
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Slice the bread in half horizontally, ensuring you're not cutting all the way through; leave a hinge.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each half of the bread.
  5. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan on top of the butter mixture.
  6. Wrap the bread halves in aluminum foil for softer garlic bread (optional).
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden and fragrant.
  8. Remove from oven, slice into pieces, and serve warm.
