Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, softened
- 2-3 tablespoons (30-45ml) whole milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Gather all ingredients at room temperature.
- In a mixing bowl, add softened butter and sifted powdered sugar.
- Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, blend until fully combined and smooth.
- Gradually add milk (1 tablespoon at a time) and vanilla extract to the mixture.
- Continue mixing until the icing is light and fluffy, adjusting consistency with more milk if needed.
- Taste and adjust with more vanilla extract or powdered sugar until reaching desired sweetness and consistency.
- Spread immediately on cooled cakes or cupcakes, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week (re-whip before using).
