- ¼ teaspoon sea salt (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:
- Measure and assemble all ingredients to ensure easy access.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat granulated sugar over medium heat.
- Stir continuously until the sugar melts and becomes a deep amber colour.
- Once melted, whisk in the cubes of butter until completely incorporated.
- Slowly pour in room temperature heavy cream while stirring; expect bubbling.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for 1-2 minutes, then stir in salt and any optional flavorings.
- Remove from heat and let the caramel cool slightly before transferring to a glass jar.
