Ingredients:

  • ½ cup heavy cream, at room temperature
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Measure and assemble all ingredients to ensure easy access.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat granulated sugar over medium heat.
  3. Stir continuously until the sugar melts and becomes a deep amber colour.
  4. Once melted, whisk in the cubes of butter until completely incorporated.
  5. Slowly pour in room temperature heavy cream while stirring; expect bubbling.
  6. Allow the mixture to simmer for 1-2 minutes, then stir in salt and any optional flavorings.
  7. Remove from heat and let the caramel cool slightly before transferring to a glass jar.
