Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken/vegetarian substitute)
  • 1 packet (1 oz / 28 g) taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup (180 mL) water (as per seasoning instructions)
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) salsa con queso
  • 3 pieces (8-inch / 20 cm) soft flour tortillas
  • 2 cups (200 g) shredded Mexican cheese blend (divided use)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, crumbling it as it cooks for about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Mix in salsa con queso until well combined.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray the baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Place one tortilla at the bottom of the pan. Spread 1/3 of the taco filling over it, followed by 1/3 of the cheese. Repeat two more times.
  5. Finish with a final layer of cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, and edges of tortillas are golden brown.
  7. Let the bake cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve with optional toppings.
