Ingredients:
- 4 slices brioche bread (about 1 inch thick)
- 4 tablespoons Nutella
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar (optional)
- Fresh berries (optional)
- Maple syrup (optional)
- Chopped hazelnuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Spread Nutella evenly on two slices of brioche. Top with the remaining two slices to create sandwiches.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, heavy cream (if using), vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Gently place the Nutella sandwiches into the custard mixture, one at a time, ensuring they are fully coated on both sides. Let soak for about 30 seconds per side.
- Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once melted, carefully place the soaked French toast sandwiches into the skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the filling is warm and melty. Reduce heat if necessary to prevent burning.
- Remove from the skillet and serve immediately. Garnish with powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, and chopped hazelnuts, if desired.
