Ingredients:

  • 4 slices brioche bread (about 1 inch thick)
  • 4 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Powdered sugar (optional)
  • Fresh berries (optional)
  • Maple syrup (optional)
  • Chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Spread Nutella evenly on two slices of brioche. Top with the remaining two slices to create sandwiches.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, heavy cream (if using), vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Gently place the Nutella sandwiches into the custard mixture, one at a time, ensuring they are fully coated on both sides. Let soak for about 30 seconds per side.
  4. Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once melted, carefully place the soaked French toast sandwiches into the skillet.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the filling is warm and melty. Reduce heat if necessary to prevent burning.
  6. Remove from the skillet and serve immediately. Garnish with powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, and chopped hazelnuts, if desired.
