Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (90g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder, Dutch-processed preferred
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (160g) Nutella, slightly warmed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
  2. In a large bowl, melt the butter. Let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in both granulated and brown sugar until well combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Dollop spoonfuls of warmed Nutella over the brownie batter. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the Nutella into the batter.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached (not wet batter).
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang.
  12. Cut into 16 squares and serve.
