Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 2–3 tablespoons (30-45ml) whole milk (or dairy alternative)
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, add the sifted powdered sugar and softened butter.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the sugar and butter until well combined and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla extract.
- If the icing is too thick, add more milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar.
- Continue mixing until the icing is light and fluffy, approximately 2-3 minutes.
- If desired, mix in food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
- Spread or pipe the icing onto cooled baked goods.
