Ingredients:
- 1 (15-ounce / 425g) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed thoroughly
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (5 ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (2.5 ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (2.5 ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional) (1.25 ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (1.25 ml)
Instructions:
- Drain and rinse chickpeas thoroughly in a colander. Pat them completely dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels. This is crucial for crispiness!
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the dried chickpeas with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Ensure the chickpeas are evenly coated.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (if using).
- Roast for 25-30 minutes, or until the chickpeas are golden brown and crispy. Shake the pan halfway through cooking to ensure even roasting.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet. They will crisp up further as they cool. Serve immediately and enjoy your tasty treat.
