Ingredients:
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- ½ cup Water
- 1 teaspoon Pure Peppermint Extract
- 4 cups White Grape Juice, chilled
- 2 cups Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, chilled
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 4 cups Lemon-Lime Soda or Club Soda, chilled
- 1 (12 oz) can Frozen Whipped Topping or Vanilla Ice Cream (optional)
- 1 cup Classic Red and White Striped Candy Canes (for crushing and garnish)
- ½ cup White Chocolate Chips (for optional rimming)
- 5 cups White Rum or Vanilla Vodka (optional spirit)
Instructions:
- Make the Peppermint Simple Syrup: Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat. Stir in peppermint extract. Allow to cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the Candy Cane Crunch: Place candy canes in a sturdy bag or food processor. Crush until a mixture of fine powder and small shards remains. Set aside for later use.
- Rim the Glasses (Optional): Melt white chocolate chips slightly. Dip the rims of serving glasses lightly into the chocolate, then immediately into the crushed candy cane mixture. Set aside.
- Mix the Base: In the large punch bowl, whisk together the chilled simple syrup, white grape juice, lime juice, and vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
- Chill (If time allows): Cover the punch base and refrigerate for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Final Assembly (Just before serving): Gently stir in the chilled lemon-lime soda. If using, add the optional scoop of whipped topping or vanilla ice cream now. If spiking, gently stir in the optional rum or vodka.
- Serve: Ladle the punch into prepared glasses. Garnish generously with the remaining crushed candy cane mixture, or use whole canes as festive stirrers.
