Ingredients:
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (110°F or 43°C)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 can (15 oz or 425g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Assorted toppings (like pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add activated yeast and olive oil.
- Mix until the dough begins to come together. Transfer to a floured surface.
- Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (approximately 1 hour).
- While dough is rising, combine crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and basil in a pan. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place your baking sheet or pizza stone inside to heat.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down, divide it into two portions, and roll each out into a 12-inch circle.
- Place the shaped dough on parchment paper (if using). Spread tomato sauce, sprinkle mozzarella, and add any desired toppings.
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy!
