Ingredients:
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 ½ teaspoons (9g) salt
- 1 teaspoon (4g) sugar
- 2 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- Tomato sauce
- Fresh mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil for drizzling
Instructions:
- Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (5-10 minutes).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Mix until combined with a wooden spoon.
- Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Form into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover with cling film or a damp cloth; let rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently; divide into two portions. Shape each dough portion into a ball and let rest for 10 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out each ball to desired thickness.
- Heat oven to 475°F (245°C) or 500°F (260°C) if you have a pizza stone.
- Add your desired toppings and bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
