Ingredients:
- 4 slices sandwich bread (Sourdough or Brioche recommended)
- 1 cup low-moisture Mozzarella, shredded
- 1/4 cup sliced Pepperoni
- 2 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 4 tablespoons Pizza Sauce or Marinara Sauce (thick style)
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, softened
Instructions:
- Lay out the four slices of bread. Lightly spread one side of each slice with softened butter (this will be the outside).
- Flip the bread so the unbuttered sides are facing up. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly on two of the slices. Sprinkle oregano over the sauce.
- Layer the fillings: On top of the sauce, layer half of the shredded mozzarella, followed by the pepperoni slices, and then a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Top with the remaining mozzarella.
- Close the sandwich by placing the remaining two unbuttered bread slices on top, ensuring the buttered sides are facing outwards.
- Heat a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-low heat. Place the assembled sandwiches into the warm pan.
- Cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes until the bottom is deeply golden brown and crisp.
- Gently flip the sandwiches. Press down lightly with the spatula to encourage even browning and melting. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is completely melted.
- Remove from the pan, let rest for 1 minute, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
