Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 package (3 oz) flavored Jello (e.g., strawberry, raspberry, or lime)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup whipped cream (or Cool Whip)
  • Optional: Sprinkles for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk; mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (about 30 minutes).
  7. In a mixing bowl, dissolve Jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water; set aside.
  8. Using a toothpick or skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cooled cake.
  9. Pour the prepared Jello mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  10. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours or until set.
  11. Spread whipped cream over the top of the cake, and garnish with sprinkles if desired.
  12. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
