Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (370g) Basmati rice
  • 2 ½ cups (600ml) Water
  • ½ tsp (3g) Sea salt
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Neutral oil
  • 2 whole Green cardamom pods
  • 1 small Cinnamon stick (1 inch)
  • 2 whole Cloves

Instructions:

  1. Place the 2 cups (370g) of rice into a fine-mesh strainer.
  2. Rinse under cold running water, gently swirling the rice with your fingers for 2–3 minutes until the water runs completely clear.
  3. Shake the strainer well to remove excess water.
  4. Transfer the rinsed rice into the inner pot of the rice cooker.
  5. Add 2 ½ cups (600ml) of water, salt, and neutral oil.
  6. Add the crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and cloves for aroma.
  7. Give the mixture one gentle stir to ensure the rice is evenly submerged.
  8. Close the lid and select the 'White Rice' setting or press the 'Cook' switch.
  9. Once the cooker switches to 'Warm' or the timer beeps, let the rice sit undisturbed for 10 minutes to allow steam to redistribute.
  10. Fluff the rice gently with a fork to separate the grains before serving.
