Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats (old-fashioned oats work best, not instant)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
- 1/4 cup (60g) plain Greek yogurt (or other thick yogurt)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional, for added thickness and nutrients)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or 1/2 vanilla bean, scraped)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, or other sweetener to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- Toppings of choice (fresh berries, sliced banana, chopped nuts, seeds, granola)
Instructions:
- In the mason jar, add rolled oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds (if using), vanilla extract (or vanilla bean scraping), maple syrup, and salt.
- Stir or shake until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Ensure no dry oats are clinging to the bottom of the jar.
- Seal the jar with a lid and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or overnight. Longer soaking is fine.
- In the morning, if the oats are too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Top with your favourite toppings, such as fresh berries, sliced banana, chopped nuts, or granola.
- Grab a spoon and tuck in!
