Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats (old-fashioned oats work best, not instant)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain Greek yogurt (or other thick yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional, for added thickness and nutrients)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or 1/2 vanilla bean, scraped)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, or other sweetener to taste)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Toppings of choice (fresh berries, sliced banana, chopped nuts, seeds, granola)

Instructions:

  1. In the mason jar, add rolled oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds (if using), vanilla extract (or vanilla bean scraping), maple syrup, and salt.
  2. Stir or shake until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Ensure no dry oats are clinging to the bottom of the jar.
  3. Seal the jar with a lid and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or overnight. Longer soaking is fine.
  4. In the morning, if the oats are too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Top with your favourite toppings, such as fresh berries, sliced banana, chopped nuts, or granola.
  6. Grab a spoon and tuck in!
