Ingredients:

  • 1 head of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice off the top of the garlic head, exposing the cloves.
  3. Place garlic head on a piece of aluminum foil or in an oven-safe dish. Drizzle with olive oil, ensuring cloves are coated. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. If using foil, wrap the garlic head tightly, creating a sealed packet.
  5. Place wrapped garlic head (or oven-safe dish) in the preheated oven. Roast for 45-60 minutes, or until the cloves are very soft and golden brown.
  6. To test for doneness, gently squeeze the garlic head. The cloves should be easily squeezed out of their papery skins.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Once cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out of their skins into a bowl.
