Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened (113g)
- 1/4 cup good-quality honey (60ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (1.5ml)
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or vanilla extract (1.5ml)
Instructions:
- Gently melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until just melted. Don't let it brown!
- Pour the melted butter into a mixing bowl. Add the honey and salt (and any optional spices or extract).
- Using a whisk or electric mixer, beat the mixture until it's light and fluffy. Aim for a pale yellow colour and a smooth, airy texture.
- Taste the honey butter and adjust the salt or honey to your liking. Fancy a touch more sweetness? Add a drizzle of honey. Want more of a salty kick? Go for it!
- For a firmer consistency, transfer the honey butter to an airtight container and chill in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes. If you want to use immediately, it will be more liquid.
- Serve honey butter at room temperature or slightly chilled and enjoy.
