Ingredients:

  • 4 center-cut salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 0.5 tsp sea salt
  • 0.25 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 0.33 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the light brown sugar, low-sodium soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Rub the fillets lightly with the neutral oil and season evenly with sea salt and cracked black pepper.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the prepared salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush a generous layer of the reduced glaze onto each fillet.
  4. Bake the salmon for 8-10 minutes. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, apply another layer of glaze and switch the oven to broil to achieve a mahogany crust, monitoring closely to prevent burning.
