Ingredients:
- 4 center-cut salmon fillets (6 oz each)
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 0.5 tsp sea salt
- 0.25 tsp cracked black pepper
- 0.33 cup light brown sugar
- 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine the light brown sugar, low-sodium soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Rub the fillets lightly with the neutral oil and season evenly with sea salt and cracked black pepper.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the prepared salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush a generous layer of the reduced glaze onto each fillet.
- Bake the salmon for 8-10 minutes. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, apply another layer of glaze and switch the oven to broil to achieve a mahogany crust, monitoring closely to prevent burning.
