Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Water
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Sesame Oil
  • ½ teaspoon (approx. 1 g) Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon (approx. 0.5 g) Chili Garlic Sauce
  • Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon finely chopped green onion
  • Optional: Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, sesame oil, sugar, and chili garlic sauce.
  2. If using, add minced garlic and/or chopped green onion to the bowl.
  3. Whisk or stir with a fork until the sugar is completely dissolved and all ingredients are well combined.
  4. If using, toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly golden. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more chili garlic sauce for heat, a pinch of sugar for sweetness, or a splash of rice vinegar for tang.
  6. Pour the sauce into small dipping bowls and garnish with toasted sesame seeds (if using). Serve immediately. This Gyoza Dipping Sauce is the absolute best.
