Ingredients:
- 1 bagel (approximately 4-inch diameter)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted (Optional)
- 4 ounces (115g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- Pinch of salt, to taste
- 2-3 ounces (60-90g) smoked salmon, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
- 1 tablespoon capers, drained
- Fresh dill sprigs, for garnish (Optional)
Instructions:
- Slice the bagel horizontally. If using, brush the cut sides lightly with melted butter.
- Toast the bagel slices to your liking. Watch them carefully to avoid burning.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Generously spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the toasted bagel halves.
- Arrange the smoked salmon slices over the cream cheese.
- Sprinkle the red onion and capers over the salmon.
- Garnish with fresh dill sprigs (if using) and serve immediately.
