- 2 ¼ cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (165 g) packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup (100 g) chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes using an electric mixer).
- Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredient blend until just combined (avoid overmixing).
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) using a spatula.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Scoop the chilled dough onto a lined cookie sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is soft.
- Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
