Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons (12-25g) granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk or cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1-2 shots (1-2oz/30-60ml) espresso or strong coffee

Instructions:

  1. In the saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the 1/4 cup of milk or cream to form a smooth paste.
  3. Slowly whisk in the remaining milk. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until hot but not boiling.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract. For mocha, stir in the espresso or strong coffee.
  5. Pour into your favorite mug and top with your favorite toppings.
